This time round team member Josh tells us what has tickled their beards.

N.B. – the growth of facial hair is not a requirement for working here.

Missed Design Inspiration vol. 5?

1) This month's video inspiration - RNLI & Finisterre:

Celebrating the hardy stoicism of RNLI volunteers through the years, the RNLI + Finisterre collaboration boasts both lush garms and a compelling backstory. The design team are keen surfers and from working with our client RNLI we know to respect the sea, and will be supporting this campaign.

2) This month's knowledge inspiration - Vox's Youtube channel:

We can’t get enough of Voxʼs explainer vids at the moment. Theyʼre bite-size, smart, presented with flair and the range from topical insights on Trump to dissections of hip-hop and colour psychology.

3) This month's drool-worthy font collection - Klim Type Foundry:

Weʼve admired Klimʼs fonts scattered around our favourite design inspiration sites for a while now. Recently we happened upon their awesome website. With delectable didots and swish sans-serifs demonstrated in hero shots of their native New Zealand itʼs a beautiful typographic showcase.

4) This month's moment of genius - President Flip Flops:

Trump flip flops. This is the kind of perfectly formed idea every designer dreams of having. Trumpʼs many metaphorical flip-flops printed on physical flip-flops… ?

5) Our favourite trend right now - Photo transitions:

This style of photo transition animation is a nice trend weʼre seeing more of. It works hard in drawing attention to content changes and makes interaction dynamic and rewarding.

6) A campaign for good - Lad Bible Trash Nation:

You may have heard about the trash island floating in the middle of the Pacific but the surprising team of The Lad Bible and The Plastic Oceans Foundation have got together to brand it and apply for it to be recognised as an official country.

Thereʼs a national flag, passport and currency and more with the idea being that if The Great Pacific Garbage Patch is considered on par with other states it could gain enough attention to prompt action.

7) Podcast of the month - 99% Invisible - Emoji:

It is no secret that we love an Emoji at CUBE and itʼs pretty incredible how Emoji have journeyed into our collective language to basically become modern hieroglyphics. Like all languages, Emoji has to evolve to meet the ever-changing needs of itʼs users and this episode of 99 P.I. looks at the process of how new emoji go from proposal to inception and is pretty fascinating.

8) This month's playlist - The Jazz Hop Cafe:

With a name assembled of various keywords that the team enjoys The Jazz Hop Cafe is a Youtube channel that features some sweet ambient tunes to work to.
