According to the American Cancer Society, it is estimated that 288,300 new cases of prostate cancer will be diagnosed in the US and 34,700 men will die from the disease in 2023.

Although earlier detection and advances in treatment have significantly increased the survival rate in recent decades,  prostate cancer is a leading cause of cancer death in men.

So how can organisations, like ZERO Prostate Cancer, harness the power of technology in the fight to end prostate cancer?

Listen to the episode below as our hosts are joined by Jamie Bearse to discuss bridging the gap between in-person and virtual events, the importance of a virtual presence, and how nonprofits can utilise AI.

Meet Jamie

Jamie has worked at ZERO Prostate Cancer for over 20 years. Starting with a position in Communications, he has taken on more responsibility over the years which led him to become CEO back in 2013.

Aside from his role as CEO, Jamie also hosts the Build a Better NonProfit podcast where he talks to inspiring leaders across the nonprofit world and uses his skills from his first job as a radio DJ.

Jamie believes in changing the way nonprofits think, act, and operate, for the better, and this can be achieved through transformational innovation.

Especially as one of the biggest issues for leaders in the nonprofit sector is connecting with people in a post-pandemic world.

That’s where technology comes in!

I think the way that people use and engage with technology is going to change quite a bit. Jamie Bearse, CEO, ZERO Prostate Cancer

About ZERO Prostate Cancer

Founded in 1996, ZERO Prostate Cancer is a leading national nonprofit in the US on a mission to end prostate cancer and help all who are impacted.

With the goal of creating ‘Generation ZERO’, the first generation free from prostate cancer, the nonprofit is fighting to increase research funding as well as providing patient support, and empowering patients to act through self-advocacy.

Thanks to the incredible team and community of cause champions, ZERO Prostate Cancer is able to get new treatments for prostate cancer, reach new patients, and educate about early detection and risk awareness.

ZERO360 is one example of the programs provided by Zero Prostate Cancer. It is a patient program, accessed via phone or the online portal, that helps patients through their journey. The program helps patients through many services such as navigating insurance, accessing emotional support, and securing treatment.
