Don’t you wish that sometimes you could just talk to some tech wizards?
Hear what they think about the latest technology news?
Learn more from what they’ve experienced?
Well consider those wishes granted!
In this latest episode of Igniting Change, our very own Cubies Greg Gomez, Head of Product, and James Marriott, Head of Creative, sit down to talk about all the latest in Artificial Intelligence.
AI opens up a realm of possibilities, but it’s not quite a seamless experience for every tool.
But don’t worry! Greg and James delve into their own experiences and explain how AI has transformed their everyday tasks for good, and sometimes how it’s been a bit ‘janky’.
So sit back, enjoy the conversation, and let’s Ignite Change together…
ChatGPT Advanced Voice Mode
First up is the new, upgraded, next level of Siri and Alexa…
ChatGPT Advanced Voice Mode allows you to have spoken conversations with ChatGPT, and aims to encourage a more natural and conversational interaction with spoken input from the user and a spoken response from ChatGPT.
Greg and James only just got access to this new feature, but they’ve been experimenting both with work and their personal lives to give us the good, the bad, and the potential!
I'm already having, not deep conversations, but personal conversations with it and asking for it to help me reflect on situations and stuff like that. Greg Gomez, Head of Product, 3 Sided Cube
Google Notebook LM
Notebook LM is a new experimental AI-powered research and writing assistant released by Google.
It works best when the user uploads documents, and can complete tasks related to the documents such as
Converting information into different formats
Answering detailed questions
And providing key insights
It can even generate a podcast based on the material it receives! The quality is extremely impressive, but Greg describes the ‘uncanny valley’ feeling from the presenters using realistic speech patterns, intonations, and natural language.
Watch out for a potential AI co-host in our next Tech talk!
I've listened to podcasts by humans that sound more like AI drivel than that AI drivel podcast! James Marriott, Head of Creative, 3 Sided Cube
Google Search AI Overviews
It is very tricky to disable this new feature, and with SEO tactics at play, there are doubts about how effective it is.
AI Overviews in Google Search are an AI-generated snapshot of the key information from your search, and links are also provided so you can dig deeper.
From hallucinations to questioning where the information is coming from, Greg and James talk about their mistrust of the feature as it currently stands.
Our hosts are preferring to scan the summary and then continue with their searches as they usually would, rather than purely relying on it.
Niche uses of AI
Speaking from their experiences with AI, Greg and James talk about their uses of AI and share where they have been able to apply tools to tasks – sometimes for niche things.
From Hemmingway and Quill bot, to Remove.bg and Suno, there’s so many popular uses of Artificial Intelligence!
