We have been hosting our monthly ‘Tech For Good Talks’ webinar series for nearly two years now, and in each and every one we like to choose a topic we are truly passionate about and use our platform to talk through how technology can lend aid/support it. Being a digital product agency in the ‘for good space’ we truly believe in the massive power that technology wields in turning the tides on some of the biggest issues facing humanity today.
Our previous events have been focussed on, circular economy, mental health and disaster preparedness to name just a few, but we wanted to flip the script. Our hosts, Head of Marketing, Char and, Head of New Business, Gabby were keen point the spotlight on women in tech and facilitate a discussion all around what it looks like to be a woman in this sector in 2022.
At 3 Sided Cube, our women in tech help us to innovate AND inspire the upcoming generation of women. We are firm believers that a successful career in tech goes above and beyond coding. Women of different backgrounds joined our webinar to share their own stories around how they’ve taken on an underrepresented industry, the expertise they bring to tech teams and how they’ve overcoming challenges to kick some serious butt in this male dominated space.
But first we had to address the low stat average elephant in the room. While women make up 38% of the agency at Cube, the industry standard is 19%. More and more woman are joining this field and feeling welcomed into it, we still have a ways to go for equality in this space. This video is a great representation of what change the tech sector still needs to see.
We were beyond thrilled to welcome such diverse and incredible group of women to our panel. Each and every panellist had such an impressive breadth of experience working in tech that we were honoured to have their unique perspective a part of the discussion. The more times that conversations like this happen, the sooner it stops being a women in tech thing and just a career in tech.
Without further ado, meet our panellists!
Each and every one of our panellists has built their career on their passion for being a force for good and being a part of driving some serious change in the world. Their collective impact is impressive and we could not wait to pick their brains about the incredible work they do every day. Some of the points we brought to the panel were:
Why do you think it’s important for more women to join the tech industry?
How much do you think the industry has changed since you joined?
What advice would you give yourself just starting out?
Do you think enough is done to help women get into the tech industry?
In a ‘Tech For Good Talks’ first, we made the event 90 minutes so that a meaningful discussion could happen without worrying about sticking to tight time constraints! The discussion was extremely insightful, and honestly could have carried on for hours, but alas we couldn’t take any more of the panel’s precious time had to wrap up the event.
But don’t worry if you missed it, catch up on the entire event below!
And that’s a wrap on an epic ‘Tech For Good Talks’! Thank you for joining us and please do shout us a holla if you want to keep chatting all things women in tech related or wanted to collab for future events.
In a long standing tradition, we like to thank our panellists for participating in our events by planting trees in their names and making the world a lil’ more green. However, in light of the recent plight in Ukraine, we decided to donate to UNICEF’s effort in offering support during this humanitarian crisis. We all feel at a loss for how to help and it can be overwhelming, but our time and money is what is going to make a difference in this rapidly changing conflict. There are loads of amazing organisations doing incredible work, but this is where we decided to allocate our event donation.

Our next event is just around the corner, and we can’t wait to see you all on the 26th of April as we kick-off Earth Day celebrations by talking to some brands, charities and climate change enthusiasts all about how tech can save our planet!
