Hello there!
At 3 Sided Cube, our mission to “change millions of lives for the better” is more than just a marketing tagline—it’s baked into the core of everything we do. This mission extends beyond the purely “for good” projects our ridiculously talented team of Cubies are building. It’s also deeply embedded into our company culture and reflected in how we support our team. As the People and Culture Manager, my role is to make sure that our mission for goodness resonates internally, giving our team the support and opportunities they need to thrive, both at work and in life.
Maintaining that delicate balance is so important to me.
Our People team is all systems go when it comes to cultivating a workplace where everyone feels valued and empowered. This commitment is evident in the wide range of benefits we offer, designed to enhance work-life balance, support health and wellbeing, and encourage personal growth.
And one of the most meaningful parts of our benefits package? Our volunteering initiative. But before we get to that, here are the ways that my team work to ensure our Cubes are supported in the workplace body, mind, and soul!

Rolling up our sleeves and volunteering at 3SC
Volunteering isn’t just a checkbox for us; it’s part of our ethos of goodness. Each and every one of my fellow Cubies (myself included) comes to work to make a positive difference in the world. This extends beyond our amazing #techforgood products to activities like beach cleans and working with local charities. Our volunteer days are designed to support causes that resonate with our team. It’s all about making a difference in any way we can, whether through environmental efforts or helping out at shelters.
This is why the People Team works hard to make volunteering great again at Cube.
We know that finding time to volunteer can be tough, especially with busy schedules. That’s why we’ve woven volunteering into our paid time off—so no one has to give up their personal time. Plus, our People team is always on hand to help with logistics, making it easy to find the right opportunities and ensuring the process is smooth and simple.
Our epic day at Julia’s House
My fellow Cubes—Matt, Charli, Georga, and I—headed to Julia’s House, a local charity that supports children with life-limiting conditions and their families.
When a family finds out that their child has a very serious medical condition, which is life-limiting or life-threatening, their world falls apart. Julia’s House exists to help these children and their families. Julia's House
We spent the day at their charity shop and warehouse in Creekmore, Poole, and it was nothing short of amazing…never thought I would be this enthused about a charity shop!
We arrived with a mix of excitement and nerves, not quite sure what to expect. But as soon as we stepped into Julia’s House, we were blown away by the scale of their operation and the dedication of their volunteers and their incredible cause as a whole.
After a quick tour, we were ready to dive in.
Matt and I took charge of the toy section. Our mission: to sort, clean, and categorise toys. It was a whirlwind! Just when we thought we were done with one crate, three more would appear. We removed batteries, scrubbed off grime, and made sure every toy was in tip-top shape before loading them onto trolleys for pricing. It was non-stop, but seeing the difference we made was incredibly satisfying.
Georga held the fort at the donation drop-off point. She greeted donors, collected gift aid info, and sorted the endless stream of contributions. It was a hive of activity, and Georga’s organisation skills were key in keeping things running smoothly.
Charli was our fashion guru, sorting and labelling clothing items to get them ready for the shop floor. The volume of donations was massive, and ensuring everything was in great condition was no small feat.
One of the coolest things we learned was that Julia’s House not only supports its own charity shops but also helps out other local charities by distributing excess donations. Their commitment to making the most of every single item was truly inspiring.
By the end of the day, we were exhausted but buzzin. It was hard work, but felt absolutely incredible to walk away knowing that we had made a tangible difference – already counting down the time until we can go back!
Volunteering isn’t just great for the community; it’s also awesome for us as a team! Getting out of the office and working together on something meaningful helps us connect on a whole new level. We share a sense of pride and accomplishment that goes way beyond our daily work chats. It’s about stepping out of our comfort zones and growing together, both as individuals and as a team.
Join us in making a difference
Volunteering is more than just a perk; it’s part of our identity at 3 Sided Cube. It’s about practicing what we preach in our “for good” philosophy in everything we do. So, whether you’re part of our team or someone who’s been inspired to get out there and make a difference in your own community – I 11/10 highly recommend it! Find a cause that resonates with you, roll up your sleeves, and put that positive bit of energy out into the world by giving back.
Let’s keep making an impact, together.
