With December upon us & Christmas just around the corner, we’ve been busy fundraising, volunteering and donating our hearts out for this year’s #CUBEMAS activities. Check out all the festivities the team got up to this year.

Tis the season for giving back
Here at 3 SIDED CUBE we firmly believe that this is, in fact, the most wonderful time of year and all of that fa la la la la la!
We exist to use Tech for Good to change millions of lives for the better. Working daily to ensure that the projects we take on and develop are always for the betterment of ourselves, our community and the wider world.
So come December, we like to kick it up a notch. Taking this month to give. Give back to our hard-working team members. Give back to the community. And most importantly, campaign and give to the most vulnerable members of our community.
CUBEMAS is a favourite long-standing tradition and core part of culture at CUBE. We use the lead up to Christmas to generate some fun events and treats for the office. This year we’ve also been doing our part to support Julia’s House.
Guess the CUBE baby wall
This year we wanted to mix it up a bit in our fundraising efforts. So we decided to try something brand-spanking’ new… By combining two of our favourite things, babies and Christmas, we now have the cutest Christmas tree in all of Bournemouth!
Welcome to our guess the baby competition! All of my fellow CUBES brought in a baby picture to hang on our guessing tree, and because we couldn’t just leave it at that, we made it a competition!
Each entry to guess who was who, would cost you a Julia’s House donation. Then, whoever gets the most correct guesses wins the grand prize. It really has brought the Holiday cheer and camaraderie watching everyone gather around the tree and try to guess whose those cheeky grins belong to.
The great Xmas raffle
While almost every aspect of CUBEMAS this year was focused on teamwork and coming together, when it comes to the raffle, it’s a dog eat dog world.
The tickets were £1 each and with the prizes that were on the line, everyone dug deep and made it rain for a shot at winning. Here are a few prizes our raffle boasted of this year:
- 1 days holiday
- £20 ASOS voucher
- Bottle of prosecco/gin
- Naked Coffee Cup + 2 bags of coffee
- Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Ultra HD with Alexa Voice Remote
- Ice skating for 2 in Bournemouth Gardens
- 4 free games of bowling for 4 people at Tower Park Bowlplex
The mood in the office really was electric during the raffle draw; from the dead silence as a name was drawn and undeniable excitement when the winners were announced.
Even working in the best office environment in town, you still can’t deny a day in bed is prettttty desirable. Our own PHP Developer Tom was lucky enough to win the day off. CONGRATS, TOM!!!!
Thank you so so much to every person that bought a ticket! 100% of what was raised is going straight to Julia’s House and of course, the raffle would be nothing without those insane prizes up for grabs. So thank you to all the local companies that so generously donated each and every one.
The CUBIES awards ceremony
The CUBIES is our yearly Christmas do to end all Christmas do’s. Instead of just doing a boozy event in some ballroom, we like to make it personal. Spending the evening celebrating each other and what we’ve managed to achieve and accomplish as a team this year.
Enter the 2019 CUBIES. Having all previously voted for the nominees, we all showed up in our Oscars finest, ready to celebrate. The prosecco was flowing and we got to cheer on our colleagues for winning categories such as ‘Greatest Team Player’, ‘Project of the Year’ and ‘Most Iconic Cube Moment’.
The pride of being a part of something so supportive and encouraging was palpable. Each team member was uplifted and celebrated. Each accomplishment. Trial. And memory made that year was reflected on.
It was truly a one-of-a-kind way to wrap up another unparalleled year at 3 SIDED CUBE and encourage all of us to stop and think about our mission to champion Tech For Good and make social impact on a global scale.
Julia's House: a cause close to home
Julia’s House is a children’s hospice providing support and care for families caring for a child with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions. We’ve supported the charity in a number of previous CUBEMAS activities as well as taking part in their £50 challenge!
We’d hugely recommend checking them out and taking a look at more of the incredible work they do, there are so many small ways we can all get behind their cause and help them support families when they need it the most.
All in all, I think it’s fair to say that we’ve had an incredible CUBEMAS. As always, we couldn’t have done it without the incredible support of the team, the companies who donated, and of course, Julia’s House for everything they do to support communities in need.
