CUBEvember: A month full of Cubies making a positive impact

At 3 Sided Cube, we practise what we preach! November has been a busy month for our Cubies doing good, so much so that we’ve rebranded it ‘CUBEvember’. We can’t wait to tell you what we’ve been up to, and hopefully inspire you to get involved and make a positive impact in your own way!

At 3 Sided Cube, we’re always proud of how our team steps up to make a difference—whether it’s through groundbreaking tech or incredible personal challenges.

This has been a busy month for our Cubies doing some good in the world.

From rallying together to raise money for men’s mental health, standing up to cancer by squatting everyday, and shining a spotlight on Diabetes awareness, we can’t wait to tell you what we’ve been up to.

Now get ready for the CUBEvember rundown…

Stand Up To Cancer

First in our line-up of Cubies making a difference is our one and only, Charlene Jackson, Head of People (Maternity Cover)!

Last month, CJ took on a truly impressive (and let’s be honest, leg-wobbling) feat: 100 squats a day for Stand Up to Cancer.

And it wasn’t just about raising funds; this challenge was a personal one. CJ’s journey hasn’t been an easy one—she’s battled and beaten skin cancer several times over the years.

Taking on this challenge was her way of giving back, raising awareness, and making a tangible difference in the fight against cancer.

Every squat (all 3,000 of them!) was a testament to her strength, resilience, and determination to stand up for a cause close to her heart.

Here’s what CJ had to say after completing the challenge:

I wanted to say a massive THANK YOU to everyone who’s supported and donated to my 100 squats a day challenge for Stand Up to Cancer! Your generosity (and my shaky knees) really helped!

We’re so proud of CJ and all the Cubies who bring their whole selves to work, using their passions and experiences to make the world a better place.

Whether it’s powering through squats for charity, creating life-changing apps, or finding small ways to spark change, our team never ceases to inspire.

Now, if you’ll excuse us, we’ll be over here giving CJ’s knees a well-earned round of applause.

Movember

3 Sided Stache has been an integral part of November at 3 Sided Cube for a number of years.

And the strong stache game is back again for 2024!

If you didn’t know, Movember is a movement and the leading charity for men’s health that has been changing the face of men’s health since 2003.

Every November people all over the world grow a moustache to raise funds and bring awareness to three of the biggest health issues affecting men:

  1. Mental health and suicide prevention,

  2. Prostate cancer,

  3. Testicular cancer.

All of which are topics we rarely talk about.

Moustaches are a great conversation starter and have become the symbol for better men's health!

Now, there’s over 6 million ‘Mo Bros.’ and our cubes are part of it.

The team raised funds and awareness this Movember for all the dads, brothers, sons and mates in our lives.

We’ve also got some incredible before and after photos…

Before and after photos from our Cubies. Before they are bared faced, and after they each have some glorious facial hair!

We are so proud to share that Nikos, JR and JC’s huge team effort (and collective facial hair) has paid off, raising over £100 for this important cause!

Diabetes Awareness Month

Every year on November 14, the world comes together to mark World Diabetes Day, raising awareness for the 420 million people living with diabetes globally.

We took a moment to ask: How can tech and AI make life easier for those managing this chronic condition?

Advancements in technology are revolutionising diabetes care - making management easier, less invasive, and more efficient.

From real-time glucose tracking sensors like Libre and Dexcom to insulin pumps and closed-loop systems that mimic natural insulin secretion, these tools significantly reduce the burden on diabetics.

However, millions of people still die each year from diabetes and its complications, partially due to the lack of accessibility to information and health care outside of the Western world (and within!)

The Power of Technology & AI

Tech plays a huge role in the treatment of Diabetes, here is a quick run-down of what’s available…

There is so much out there but we still have miles to go, so we went and asked Diabetics of all types what tech they wish they had to help them with their diabetes management. This is what they said…

Speech bubbles showing what tech people with Diabetes have said they need or would find useful.

Research and Innovation

The future of diabetes care is promising, with groundbreaking research and innovative technologies on the horizon!

In a major breakthrough, a woman with Type 1 Diabetes began producing her own insulin within three months of receiving a stem-cell-derived treatment and remained injection free a year later! Additionally, immunotherapy treatments designed to reprogram the immune system to stop attacking insulin-producing cells are currently in clinical trials, having the potential to prevent the development of Type 1 Diabetes altogether.

Leaps and bounds have been made for diabetic care with innovation, but there's still work to be done!

Charities such as The Diabetes Compass, World Health Organization, International Diabetes Federation, and Diabetes UK, are working tirelessly to improve the lives of people with diabetes through research, advocacy, and education.

Supporting these non-profits helps pave the way for better management and, ultimately, a cure for diabetes.

Beyond CUBEmas...

CUBEvember 2024 may be behind us, but we’re still out there building tech for good and doing good in our community in December and beyond.

It’s not just a marketing gimmick, we practise what we preach! Our culture, activities and perks, all emphasise and facilitate us making a positive impact.

The proof is in the pudding!

Our Cubies have already rallied together to donate to The Winter Appeal so we could head down to our local Foodbank this morning to deliver items to those that need it most over Christmas.

Our donations!

Join us in making a difference!

We want to change millions of lives, and this impact is amplified when we all come together.

We can’t do it alone.

Whether you’re a part of our team or someone who’s been inspired to get involved in your own way - we are 10000% behind you!

Let’s keep making an impact, together.
