Is this the most festive street in the UK?
There’s a street of houses in Branksome where the residents GO TO TOWN on Christmas lights and decorations, each home raises money for different charities and the result is something straight out of your favourite Christmas movie.
If you hadn’t noticed, this December we are doing 12 good deeds over twelve days to help our local community, as part of our #TechiesDoingGood Christmas mission. On the first day of Cubemas we helped out at a local children’s home, day two we sent postcards to some inspirational kids, and for this charitable task, I GOT TO DRESS AS A POLAR BEAR!!!!!!

It’s well known that I don’t need much of an excuse to dress up in the Cube office (check out Halloween) but on this occasion, the team and I were supporting one of our favourite charities; Julia’s House.
One Runton Road resident, John Turvey, supports Julia’s House by collecting donations every night throughout December, so this year we decided to go and give him a very festive helping hand.
With our fundraising buckets in hand, the CUBE team headed out to the cul-de-sac to witness the spectacularly decorated houses ourselves. It was a chilly night, but polar bears should be used to that, right? John’s father, who has now sadly passed away, started the household’s annual challenge to outdo their neighbours’ festive illuminations and raise as much cash for charity as possible. We were thrilled to join the tradition and helped to collect £192, the largest amount they have ever received in one night so far! We hope this helps John and the charity to beat last year’s £3615 total.
