According to the United Nations, 2023 was the deadliest year on record for humanitarian workers. This year’s campaign, #ActForHumanity, confronts the normalization of attacks on civilians, including humanitarians, and impunity under International Humanitarian Law.

It is estimated that this year alone, nearly 300 million people will need humanitarian assistance and protection. Hundreds of millions of people are impacted around the world, both civilians and humanitarian workers, and that number is rising daily.

But whenever and wherever people are in crisis, there are others who help them.

From the affected people themselves – always first to respond when disaster strikes – to the global community that supports them as they recover, people across the globe come together to ease suffering and bring hope. Because, as the saying goes: It takes a village to support people in crisis.

IT TAKES A VILLAGE

And that village is exactly what World Humanitarian Day shines a light on. The hundreds of thousands of volunteers, professionals and crisis-affected people who deliver urgent health care, shelter, food, protection, water and much more. Today, and everyday, we celebrate their life-saving work.

Here are a few wonderful causes using innovation and kicking butt to support the Humanitarian effort:

In summary…

It’s easy to feel overwhelmed and not know how to help, but platforms like all of those allow for all of us to support in whatever capacity we are able.

We’re a part of that village, so this World Humanitarian Day, let’s get out there and support the monumental efforts these workers are doing around the world every single day. All of those causes can use our help, so whether its time, money or spreading awareness, please do what you can to support.

Thank you to all of those out there bringing hope and life-changing help to those in crisis, we celebrate each and every single one of YOU today.
