The Role 🛠️

As the Head of Engineering, you will:

  • Provide Strategic Guidance: Offer strategic guidance on technical direction, solutions architecture, and standardising technical principles to ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Lead and Mentor Teams: Lead and mentor technical team leads across various domains, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous growth.
  • Drive Technical Innovation: Drive technical innovation and ensure high standards of code quality across all development teams, promoting best practices and ensuring adherence to industry standards.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to prioritise and problem-solve effectively, maintaining effective relationships with Product, Design, and Delivery teams to drive project success.
  • Support Commercial Activities: Provide technical expertise for commercial activities, proposals, and pitches, ensuring that technical solutions are innovative, advantageous, and aligned with client requirements.
  • Maintain Security and Compliance: Collaborate with SysAdmin to maintain security and control costs of hosting on AWS, ensuring robust security measures and compliance with ISO and Cyber Essentials standards.

What we're looking for 🔎

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience: Proven experience in a senior technical leadership role, with expertise in solutions architecture and team management.
  • Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of technologies relevant to web and mobile app development, including
    • Essential: PHP & Node.js
    • Ideal: iOS, Android frontend frameworks
    • Added bonus!: Dev Ops (AWS)
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
  • Leadership Abilities: Demonstrated leadership and mentoring abilities, with a track record of developing high-performing teams and fostering innovation.
  • Continuous Learning: A keen interest in learning new technologies and approaches to building high-quality software.
  • Attention to Detail: High attention to detail with a commitment to producing high-quality code and adherence to industry best practices.
  • Collaboration: Excellent collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
