For our latest ‘Tech For Good Talks’, our hosts Rich and Gabby were keen to delve into the subject of a circular economy. The need for a transition from our current linear model is apparent, and is something that we are passionate about at 3 Sided Cube. We see the immense power that technology yields in accelerating a transition to a circular economy and are the biggest proponents of utilising it.
But what exactly is a circular economy?
Glad you asked!
A circular economy is part of the solution to breaking the mould of our current linear system where products are just made, used and binned off. In a circular economy, products, services and systems are designed to maximise their value and minimise waste. It’s an all-encompassing approach to life and business, where everything has value and nothing is wasted. Simply put, it can be explained as ‘make, use, remake’ as opposed to the current system that is wreaking havoc on our environment.
Good thing technology is up to the task for helping do just that!
Our project with Polytag, which works to change the way the world recycles through a mobile app, is what really started us on the journey of using technology to support a circular economy, and the sky is the limit from there! From supply chain, to financing and packaging, there is a massive overhaul that needs to happen and technology is up to the task!
As this is a topic is so important to us, we wanted to make sure we held an event and had a panel that reflected a breadth of experience across the sector. So we assembled an absolute all-star panel, the Avenger’s of the circular economy and sustainability bad asses in their own right – meet our panel of extraordinary people…
Each and every one of our panellists has built their career on their passion for being a force for good and being a part of driving some serious change in the world. Their collective impact is impressive and we could not wait to pick their brains about the incredible work they do every day. Some of the points we brought to the panel were:
What does the circular economy mean to you?
What are the challenges of a circular economy?
How can technology support a circular economy?
What does the future look like for a circular economy?
The discussion was extremely insightful, and honestly, we could have gone on for hours but alas, we couldn’t hold our panellists hostage for as long as we’d have liked and had to wrap up the event. But don’t worry if you missed it, catch up on all the action below!
And that’s a wrap on an epic ‘Tech For Good Talks’! Thank you for joining us and please do shout us a holla if you want to keep chatting all things circular economy related or wanted to collab for future events.
Our next event is just around the corner, and we can’t wait to see you all on the 1st of March as we kick-off the International Women’s Day celebrations by talking to some of the badass and inspiring women in tech! Grab your free ticket to the event below:
