TL;DR

Big news from Worthy Farm 📣

The Official Glastonbury Festival App 2025, built by 3 Sided Cube in partnership with Glastonbury Festival, Vodafone and Fuse, has been shortlisted for “Standout App” at the UK Digital Excellence Awards.

With 250,000+ downloads and 450,000+ hours spent in the app, it helped Festival-goers plan their line-ups, navigate Worthy Farm and find their friends without missing a beat…or the magic happening on stage.

Safe to say the team is pretty psyched!

Meet the Glastonbury Festival App: Your Digital Guide to Worthy Farm

Every year, Worthy Farm transforms into a temporary city.

Glastonbury Festival stretches across 900 acres, hosts 3,000+ performances across 100+ stages, and welcomes hundreds of thousands of music fans from around the world.

Amazing? Absolutely. Easy to navigate? Not always.

That is where the Official Glastonbury Festival App comes in!

Built by the crew here at 3 Sided Cube alongside Glastonbury Festival, Vodafone and Fuse, the app was designed to make the Festival easier to explore without pulling people away from the experience itself.

Instead of scrolling endlessly or hunting for information, fans could find what they needed in seconds and get straight back to what they came for: the music, the mems and the magic of the Festival.

Think of it as a Festival sidekick that quietly works behind the scenes while the real show happens on stage.

Fields to Finalists: The App Is Award-Shortlisted

Being shortlisted for “Standout App” at the UK Digital Excellence Awards is a massive moment for everyone involved in the project.

This category celebrates digital products that make a real difference for real users. That is exactly what the Glastonbury Festival App set out to do.

Rather than packing the app with bells, whistles and unnecessary complexity, the focus was simple. Build something fast, dependable and genuinely useful for people navigating one of the biggest Festivals on the planet.

Whether it was finding the next stage, discovering a new artist or tracking down friends across Worthy Farm, the app was designed to provide quick answers without interrupting the moment.

And that was the secret sauce for one stand out app!

Less Wandering, More Dancing: How the App Helps Festival-Goers

At a Festival the size of Glastonbury, even simple questions can turn into mini-quests.

Where is the stage I am heading to?
Who is playing next?
Where are my friends?
Where can I get food without wandering for half an hour?!

The Glastonbury Festival App was built to answer those questions instantly.

With personalised schedules, live maps and friend-finding tools, festival-goers could move around Worthy Farm with confidence and spend less time figuring things out and more time living in the moment.

Personalised Festival Line-ups

One of the most loved features of the app is the ability to create your own personalised Festival schedule.

Users can favourite artists and stages, building their own Glastonbury line-up. The app highlights clashes and helps people plan their weekend around the sets they do not want to miss.

Even better, line-ups can be shared with friends and automatically synced. If someone adds a new act or adjusts their plan, everyone sees the update instantly.

Across the Festival weekend, more than 198,000 personalised line-ups were created.

No More “WYA?” Texts: Live Location Sharing

Trying to meet friends at a Festival is a bit like trying to find a needle in a haystack…if aforementioned needle had 1 bar of signal.

The live location sharing feature made that a lot easier.

Festival-goers could temporarily share their location for one, three or twenty-four hours, making it far simpler to reconnect.

Over the weekend, 67,000+ live location shares helped friends find each other across Worthy Farm.

The Interactive Map

When you are navigating 900 acres of Festival, a good map becomes essential.

The app’s live interactive map lets users search for stages, food stalls, bars, toilets, accessibility points and more, helping them get where they need to go faster.

Festival-goers can also drop custom pins, perfect for remembering where the tent is or marking that legendary falafel stand.

During the Festival, the map powered more than 3.8 million searches.

No Signal? No Problem

Connectivity at large outdoor events can be unpredictable.

That is why offline functionality was built into the app from the start.

Even when signal dipped, Festival-goers could still access maps, schedules and their personalised line-ups. It is one of those features you do not really think about until you need it.

And then it becomes essential.

250,000 Downloads Later: The Impact

During the Festival:

In other words, the app wasn’t just downloaded. It became part of how many people experienced the Festival.

The Social Impact: Billions of Steps for Good

One of the most exciting additions to the 2025 app was the Festival-wide step challenge.

Delivered in partnership with Vodafone, the challenge tracked how much movement happened across Worthy Farm during the Festival weekend.

And Festival-goers did not disappoint.

Together, they recorded more than 3 billion steps.

Those steps contributed to Vodafone’s everyone.connected initiative, which supports digital inclusion across the UK by helping people access connectivity, devices and digital skills.

So yes, simply walking and sprawling across Festival grounds and living your best life, generated some incredible social impact!

Under the Hood: The Tech That Powers It

Behind the scenes, the app runs on a robust mobile architecture designed to support large numbers of users in a short window of time.

The technology stack includes:

This setup made sure the app stays fast, responsive and reliable, even when demand peaks during headline moments.

A Massive Thank You to the Team

Being shortlisted for the UK Digital Excellence Awards is a major high-five moment for everyone involved in this project.

Huge credit goes to the teams at Glastonbury Festival, Vodafone, Fuse and our brilliant Cubes who helped bring the app to life.

Building tech for an event as iconic as Glastonbury is no small task. Seeing it recognised at a national level means a lot.

Fingers Crossed for the Win 🤞

For us at 3 Sided Cube, this nomination means the absolute world.

The best technology does not need to shout the loudest. It can be in the background quietly solving real problems and earns people’s trust.

If it helps hundreds of thousands of people explore Worthy Farm, discover new artists, reconnect with friends and make unforgettable memories, then that’s a job well done.

Don’t mind us, we’ll just be over here crossing our fingers until awards night, April 23!
